Hopewell police warn of trend involving HVAC thefts, vandalisms

HOPEWELL, Va. — Hopewell residents are urged to remain vigilant as the Hopewell Police Department releases a precautionary advisory following an investigation into a series of incidents involving stolen or damaged heating and air conditioning units.

Police reports reveal eight thefts and two cases of vandalism targeting HVAC units in the past two months.

A police spokesperson mentioned, “Most, if not all, of these incidents occurred at vacant residences currently listed for sale. We are concerned about potential unreported cases and kindly request residents to inspect their properties, especially if they have a residence for sale in the City of Hopewell.”
